Privacy policy

What DinkUp holds about you, who can see it, and how to get rid of it. DinkUp is run by the team behind the app — for anything to do with your privacy, message us through the contact form on the home page.

In short

  • We hold the details you give DinkUp, so it can show you the players, games and drop-ins near you.
  • Other players see your card — never your email address.
  • You can change or delete everything from your profile page, any time.

What we hold

  • What you type in: your name, the postcode you play near, skill level, formats, availability, bio, and a photo if you add one.
  • Your email address and password. Signing in is handled by our platform's account service, so we never see your password itself.
  • Your activity: swipes, matches, chats, games and drop-ins you host or join, clubs, when you last opened a chat, and any report you send.
  • Club admins can add an email address to a club's invite list — we hold that address whether or not the person has an account.

Why we hold it

  • To run DinkUp: show your card, match you when you both swipe right, carry your chats, and work out the club and league tables.
  • To place you: your postcode becomes a point on the map, which is how we measure distances in miles and pick the cards near enough to show you.
  • To keep the app safe and working, and to email you about your account — confirming your address or resetting your password.
  • We keep a record of who you've swiped on, so the same card doesn't come round again. If someone edits their card, or a chat is removed, those swipe records are cleared so you can come across each other again.
  • Those are the only reasons we use your details: to give you the service you signed up for, because we have a fair reason (keeping the app safe), or because you agreed to something, like showing a photo. The order of the deck is worked out automatically from your filters and your location — it isn't a decision about you.

Who can see it

  • Other players see your card: name, photo, skill level, play styles, availability, bio, and roughly how far away you are.
  • Only the players in a chat can read it. We don't read chats — if one is reported, the report goes on file for our admins.
  • A few cards in the deck are examples we've added so you can see how the app works.
  • Games, drop-ins and clubs you post show the details you enter — venue, postcode, date, price — to the players browsing them.

How long we keep it

  • Your profile and account stay until you delete them.
  • Chats clear themselves: 7 days after the last message in a player chat, and 48 hours after a game starts in a game chat. The swipes behind them go too, so you can meet again in the deck.
  • Reports stay on file as a record.

Your rights

  • From your profile you can change your details, blur your photo on your card, hide your card from the deck, or delete your account — which removes your profile, swipes, matches, chats and the account itself.
  • You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Use the contact form on the home page.
  • In the UK you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Sharing and security

  • Our hosting, storage and email providers handle your details on our behalf, and may store them outside the UK — they're required to protect them to UK standards.
  • We don't sell your details, and DinkUp has no advertising or analytics trackers. Keeping you signed in uses a small file saved in your browser.
  • Access inside DinkUp is limited to the people who need it to run the app.

Children

  • DinkUp is for adults. We don't knowingly collect anything from children, and we'll remove a child's account if we find one. If you think a child has one, tell us.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of the page and tell you in the app.
